The European School at Culham, near Abingdon, is not for sale - and that's official.
Two banners were strung across the raised footpath outside the school.
They said it was for sale and all inquries should be directed to the school's main telephone number.
But anyone thinking of putting in a bid for the building was disappointed when they called.
School secretary Julia Grange said: "The European School is not for sale, sorry.
"The banners proclaiming the sale were a joke by our seventh year students at an end of school party.
"The 18-year-olds have now left the school before returning to do their baccalaureate examinations.
"They always have a party and the For Sale banner was a joke."
