Banbury West End continued their march towards qualification from the West Midlands group of the National Club League with a 4-2 victory over East Gloucester.
Still struggling to get their full team out due to unavailability, the scoreline doesn't tell the full story, with West End having to win the final two matches of the afternoon to ensure victory.
Neil Watts got West End off to a winning start, easily beating Mark Morgan 6-0, 6-1 in his singles match.
Peter Russell made it 2-0, but a three-set defeat for Russell Boulton and straight-sets loss for John Spratt meant the teams were locked together at 2-2 going into the doubles.
Watts and Russell romped to a comfortable victory in their match, but it took an injury to an East Gloucester player to ensure a West End victory.
Boulton and Spratt had lost the first set 6-3, but when the scores were locked at 1-1 in the second set, injury forced the home side to retire, handing Banbury West End the tie.
West End have now won four out of four matches, without having all of their big guns available at the same time.
North Oxford lost on a tie-break shoot-out to Caversham in the South region group.
The match had finished level at 3-3, but Caversham scraped home 2-1 in the tie-break finale.
