Plans for two split-site Oxford primary schools have been approved in principle by the county council.
The proposals to create the SS Mary and John CE Primary in east Oxford and Littlemore Primary are part of plans to abolish Oxford's middle schools and replace them with primaries and secondaries.
The new 420-pupil SS Mary and John Primary will be on the site of the first school with the same name in Hertford Street and Isis Middle School in Meadow Lane. Building work will be carried out at both sites at a cost of £418,000.
Infant pupils will be at the Hertford Street site and the junior children will be at the Meadow Lane buildings.
Littlemore CE Aided school will be created on the site of what is now Lawn Upton Middle School. It will have places for 420 pupils and will cost an estimated £840,000.
Detailed plans are being drawn and will be submitted to county councillors for consent early next month.
