May 25 report: An independent politician has unveiled his manifesto to get more money spent in Old Marston and Risinghurst in Oxford.
Ken Tiwari, who has represented Labour on the city council for ten years, is standing as an independent county council candidate.
His policies include introducing traffic lights at Headington Roundabout and pelican crossings in Cherwell Drive and Marsh Lane, better maintenance of roads and pavements and higher-profile community policing.
Mr Tiwari, said his mission was to fight the "low priority status" of Old Marston and Risinghurst.
He urged people to vote for him because the county council was hung at the moment with no party in overall control. He said that gave independent councillors considerable bargaining power to drive through their own agenda.
