traffic problems in a rural part of Oxfordshire are to be targeted with a pilot scheme.
The county council's CountryWays traffic project will look at the Stoke Row area, near Wallingford, aiming to make rural lanes safer and more attractive for walkers, cyclists and horse-riders.
People living and working in and around Stoke Row filled in questionnaires on the plan, and nine out of ten supported the proposals.
They complained about pot-holes, the volume and speed of traffic, the impact of lorries, and the need for safer footpaths. Engineers have £300,000 to spend and will consult further before implementing the changes next year.
If the project is a success, the scheme might be extended to other parts of the county.
