A cub leader who has given 40 years of service to Scouting has been honoured with a special civic award.
Wallingford's new mayor, Theresa Jordan, presented Brenda Calcutt - better known as 'Akela' by two generations of Cubs and Scouts - with a framed letter of commendation from the town council.
Mrs Calcutt, of Aston Close, Wallingford, already holds the Chief Scout's Long Service Decoration, plus Scouting's Medal of Merit and the Silver Acorn Award.
Her husband, Ron, and her son and daughter have also been Scout leaders in Wallingford.
Wallingford District Scouts Commissioner Christopher Burnell said Mrs Calcutt had made an "immense" contribution.
He said: "There are hundreds and hundreds of men and boys - almost three generations - who will remember the hours of dedicated service Brenda has put in since she joined Scouting in 1961."
