Candidates in Witney are seeking to liven up the election campaign with plenty of bar talk.

Four of them met voters in pubs on Tuesday - and another of the candidates is a publican.

Tory David Cameron, Labour's Mike Bartlet and Liberal Democrat Gareth Epps were meeting with members of the West Oxfordshire Motorcycle Action Group at their headquarters, the White Hart in Minster Lovell, in a question and answer session.

And Green candidate Mark Stevenson was doing the same at the House of Windsor in Witney's West End.

It was his second "meeting the public" session, following an evening at the Queen's Head in Eynsham, and another is lined up on Thursday, May 24, at the Blue Boar in Chipping Norton.

"People were relaxed and had time to talk. It gave them an opportunity to air their views and discuss and for me a chance to put across Green policies," he said.

"It is also good to feel that campaigning is directly benefitting local business!"

Independent candidate Barry Beadle manages the Hollybush Inn in Witney's Corn Street.
