Villagers celebrated the end of a joint community effort, by opening their new recreation area.
The leisure area in Kingston Lisle, near Wantage, includes a playground and garden. Although it is already well-used by youngsters, villagers gathered on Saturday for an official opening ceremony.
Funding for the project came from the National Lottery Awards for All scheme, the Hanson Environmental Trust and the Vale of White Horse District Council.
Elizabeth Graham, secretary of the Kingston Lisle Community Area Group, which organised the scheme, said: "The community area is unusual in having been created and managed by a group of residents rather than a parish or district council.
"Until now, children had no play facilities."
