Hook Norton retained the Oxfordshire Senior League Premier Division title with a 2-1 win over Adderbury Park - and are now looking forward to playing in the Hellenic League next season.

Needing victory to pip Long Crendon by a point for the championship, Hook Norton took the lead after 15 minutes when Steve Jones headed home a cross from Robbie Wyatt, the Carterton striker who is registered for Hooky.

Adderbury had much of the play, but were unable to make their possession count.

And substitute Dickie Knight came off the bench to give Hooky breathing space with a second goal 15 minutes from time.

Adderbury pulled one back to give Hook Norton a nervous last ten minutes, but they held on for victory - and a second successive title.

It capped a hectic finish to the season for the champions, who won four games in the space of eight days to finish top.

Now their application to join the Cherry Red Records Hellenic League is expected to be rubber stamped at the annual meeting on Tuesday, June 5.

Hook Norton celebrate their title triumph at their annual presentation evening at Rye Hill Golf Club on Saturday.

Elsewhere, in the Senior League, Broughton & North Newington were crowned Division 1 champions with Haddenham going up as runners-up.

Middleton Cheney are relegated from the top flight and drop into Division 1.

Long Crendon Res were crowned Division 2A champions, while Highfield and Middleton Cheney go up from Division 2B.
