French furniture, decorations and Asian porcelain of the mid-to-late 18th century were auctioned by Doyle New York.
The property was from the estate of Lady Sarah Consuelo Spencer-Churchill, the Vanderbilt heiress and sister of the 11th Duke of Malborough who lives at Blenheim Palace. It fetched more than £1m, doubling pre-sales estimates. The top lot of the day, a Louis XV gilt-bronze bureau, went to a French bidder for $179,750.
