Mark Wright will have just five games to look at his new Oxford United team before the season proper gets under way.

United have officially released their list of pre-season fixtures, with just one match - the final game - played at the new Kassam Stadium.

Wright will see his team play for the first time just down the road as they take on Paul Lee's Oxford City side at Court Place Farm on July 21.

United then face two matches against Conference sides Woking and Farnborough, before making a trip to Kingstonian, relegated from the Conference last season.

Crystal Palace will be the last warm-up game for Wright. They visit The Kassam Stadium on August 4.

The pre-season programme was arranged under former boss David Kemp before Wright arrived at the club, and so the former England and Liverpool defender had no input in it.

"It was too late for us to change the matches, so we have to play those," Wright said. "There's no point trying to fix up other matches because then we would have too many and it would be too hard on the players."

Terry Byfield, communications manager at Palace, told United's website: "We are very excited to be the first opponents to play at the spectacular new Kassam Stadium.

"I am looking forward to seeing it very much, and to watching the lads playing on the new surface which we have heard a lot about."

*United expect to announce information on season tickets at the end of this week. It is expected that current season ticket holders will be able to study a plan of the new stadium before choosing their seats.
