Tennis in Hook Norton received a £2,271 boost this week with the announcement of a Sport England grant.
The award will encourage junior players to take up the sport.
Rebecca Watts, co-ordinator of the scheme at Hook Norton Tennis Club, said: "A range of coaching opportunities are already available to introduce the over-fives to tennis and improve the standard of slightly older children."
The money will be used to buy equipment, develop coaching, and ensure qualified coaches can attend new training courses.
Hook Norton Tennis Club has joined forces with Cherwell District Council's sports development team, and a tennis camp is being planned for the summer holidays.
There will also be a 'come and try it' day on July 1.
