The body of former model Harriet Boyd was found at her Wallingford home after her worried mother contacted the police.
Heather Clarke, who lives in Cornwall, alerted them when she had not heard from her daughter for a week.
Police forced their way into Millward Terrace, off St Leonard's Lane, and found Mrs Boyd, 40. She had apparently been dead several days.
A police spokesman said there were no suspicious circumstances. They would not say whether Mrs Boyd took her own life.
The coroner's officer has been informed and an inquest will be held.
Neighbours said Mrs Boyd was well-known by sight in Wallingford as she walked her two lurcher dogs round the town or drove in her Jaguar car.
But she kept herself to herself, they said, and did not talk about her private life.
They understood she had been a model but had not been working for a while.
