Pupils at an Oxford school have raised £2,600 for children at an impoverished school in Africa.
When children at Christ Church Cathedral School in Brewer Street learned of the conditions faced by their counterparts in Mfuwe, Zambia, they wanted to help and raised donations through a sponsored spell and bring-and-buy sale.
More than 80 juniors aged three to nine took part in the fundraising drive.
Teacher Pamela Allen said that next term a book would be compiled of life at their school which will be sent to Zambia.
She added: "They will be sending us a similar book in October or November and pupils from both schools will be able to get an insight into the different conditions.
"A relatively small number of pupils have raised quite a lot of money, so we are very pleased."
