A team of business advisers swapped a day in the office for a stint of DIY to transform two flats for people with sight and hearing problems.

Armed with paintbrushes and garden tools, 35 KPMG employees spent a day redecorating and tidying up the gardens of the flats in Reading Road, Wallingford.

The workers, from the firm's information, communication and entertainment department, based in Reading, carried out the task for Sense, which supports people who are deaf and blind.

The initiative was organised via Business in the Community, a national agency that encourages firms to offer their skills and experience for the benefit of the local area.

Colin Cure, the regional general manager for Sense, said:

"They chose certain colours of contrasting paint for some of the rooms, which helps residents who have a little vision to make out the shape of the room and the objects in it."
