The traditional bun throwing ceremony from the top of the County Hall museum in Abingdon will form the centrepiece of next year's celebrations to mark the Queen's Jubilee Year.
The tradition started in 1760 for the Coronation of George III and continues to celebrate royal events. Town councillors stand on the top of the 18th century building and throw buns to people gathered in the Market Place.
After the bun throwing on June 1 next year there will be a Jubilee dinner in the Guildhall, which will be open to the public. The following day, the mayor's civic service will be followed by the annual town picnic, a popular event which last week attracted nearly 2,000 adults and children to the Abbey Grounds.
