Nissan is launching a choice of six booted Almeras.
Prices will start from £11,065 putting it level with the equivalent five-door.
The new four-doors will be marching up alongside Almera three and five-door hatchbacks, as well as the Almera Tino compact peole carrier, in Nissan showrooms from June 1, from when the company expects the hatch to outsell the saloon 25 to one.
Nissan Motor (GB) says it hasn't introduced the booted Almera until now because Sunderland has only recently been tooled up to produce this derivative, which gets the same 4 star Euro-NCAP rating as the hatchback and Tino versions.
The engine line ups mirror each-other with a choice of 90 horsepower 1.5-litre or 113 horsepower 1.8-litre petrols (the latter being offered with the option of automatic transmission), and a 110 horsepower 2.2-litre Di turbo diesel.
The 1.5 and 1.8 are offered with the S trim grade, stepping up to the even more comprehensive SE pack adds the choice of diesel.
Even the S comes with air conditioning, front electric windows, central locking, three three-point rear seatbelts, and twin airbags.
