Bicester will be alive with the sound of music as it launches its first weekend jazz festival.

The music kicks off on Saturday, July 28, at two main venues, Bicester Village and Evans Yard.

Bicester Music Centre, Evans Yard, Bicester, is the host for the Lord Williams Jazz Band and Risky Business.

Tony Burroughs, centre manager, says there will also be entertainment from his friends and customers who will be dropping in to take the stage.

Saturday shopping will take a very different tone this weekend because solo artists will be playing inside shops. Saturday shoppers can browse to the beat of the music.

The Bicester Village extravaganza includes musicians and bands such as Derek Tatum and the Royal Garden Jazzmen, The Jazz Menagerie, Just Dixie with George and Richard, Zoot Money and NJA band.

Miranda Markham, deputy centre manager at Bicester Village, said: "This event supported by Cherwell District Council, is a very exciting and innovative concept and one that highlights some of Oxfordshire's leading musicians and artists."
