Plans to transform part of an underused car park into a bingo hall have been deferred after several concerns were raised about the project.

The multi-million pound plan centres on the lower two levels of the six-storey Castle Car Park in Crowell Road, Cowley.

It would see the capacity reduced from 591 spaces to 385 but planners say this is not a problem as it only ever comes close to being full at Christmas.

The application was deferred until a later date by Oxford City Council's planning committee yesterday to allow a traffic impact assessment to be carried out about the effect the proposed bingo hall would have.
