Lewknor will get a new village shop if a controversial housing development takes place.
The shop is an integral part of the redevelopment of Town Farm yard.
The village lost its shop last year and failed in a bid to get new owners to take it on.
It has now been converted to a private house.
The development at listed Town Farm includes the demolition of all but one of the farm buildings, the erection of eight new houses and a barn conversion.
Planning officers at South Oxfordshire District Council said permission should be given for the development. Northern area planning committee members will look at the plans on site before making a decision.
Local member Rodney Mann said: "This is a very important development in a sensitive area and should be viewed on site."
