Oxford's Tim Henman has been made third favourite to win this year's Wimbledon men's singles championship as he prepares for today's semi-final showdown with Goran Ivanisevic.

The 26-year-old British No 1 is being tipped by the bookies to overcome the 29-year-old Croat whom he has beaten in four matches out of four.

But only once have they met on grass, when Henman triumphed at Queen's Club two years ago.

Tim Henman is third favourite to win Bookmakers have made Henman, who is playing his third semi-final in four years, third favourite for the title at 100-30, behind Andre Agassi (11-8) and Patrick Rafter (11-4), who meet in the other semi-final.

William Hill's reckon bookies would face a £500,000 payout if Henman takes the title.

But can he first get past the Aceman? In beating US Open winner Marat Safin in Wednesday's quarter-final, Ivanisevic took his aces count this tournament to 50.

"I've dealt with Goran's game well in the past," Henman said. "That certainly gives me confidence going into the match.

"Add to that, the occasion. The atmosphere for my quarter-final was absolutely incredible. I'd like some more of that on Friday.
