A drug user who was trying to wean himself off heroin may have died from an overdose because his tolerance levels had fallen, an inquest heard.
Kevin Carney, 29, of Cowley Road, Littlemore, Oxford, was found dead on his bedroom floor by his father, James, on February 17. Mr Carney told the inquest he was aware his son had a drug habit, but did not know what substances he was abusing.
Det Sgt David Herniman, of Oxford CID, said syringes had been found in the bed. Other items associated with drug abuse were also found in the room.
Consultant pathologist Dr Bryan Warren said the heroin levels found in the dead man's blood were more than double the amount usually associated with fatalities.
Coroner Nicholas Gardiner recorded a verdict of accidental death.
