A man who stole money from a shop's charity collection has been placed on a community rehabilitation order for a year.

David Seager, 27, of Longore, Stonesfield, took £12 from a charity basket on the counter at Harveys Coffee Shop, High Street, Oxford, on June 30.

At Oxford magistrates yesterday he admitted theft and going equipped for theft.

He also admitted a separate charge of theft, relating to stealing £225 worth of goods from Boots in Oxford on June 19.
