Adam Glass, of Reading GC, defied heavy rain to score brilliantly and win the gross competition at the Waterstock Junior Classic.
Glass's superb three-under-par 70 enabled him to be entered for the Daily Telegraph National Competition after he finished seven shots ahead of Peter Godfrey (Denchworth) and Glynn Meredith (Reading).
The popular tournament, supported and sponsored by the Oxford Mail and Cabana Soft Drinks, attracted 75 young golfers from over 30 clubs in the south of England.
Clara Leathers, from Aylesbury Golf Centre, won the girls' gross competition with a score of 85.
The boys' open nett competition was won by Dan Gascoyne (Waterstock) on countback from Jonathan Fulcher (Woburn) in a tightly-fought contest. Both recorded net 66s.
The afternoon action began with the Division 1 competition for players aged 11 to 13.
Again the scoring was excellent with Jamie Powell (Cherwell Edge) winning with a nett 66. Glenn Oakes (Drayton Park) was third on 71.
Matthew Bransby, a nine handicapper, scored the best gross with a 78.
The nine-hole competition for nine to 11-year-olds again produced excellent scores with Eddie Pepperal scoring a gross 47 shots to take victory over Matthew Draper and Alister Haynes.
