The Mayor of Thatcham, near Newbury, hopes the people of Abingdon can help in the search for a lost camera containing film of her civic engagements.

Judith Gildersleevesand her husband Peter visited Abingdon on the morning of Friday, July 27 and parked in the Rye Farm car park. They walked over the bridge to the Mill House pub to catch the boat to Oxford.

They believe the camera - a Yashika compact Zoomate 80 - fell out of Mr Gildersleeves's rucksack in the car park, on the path leading to the Mill house pub or in the pub garden near the landing stage.

Mrs Gildersleeves said: "It is annoying to have lost the camera but the important thing is the film inside. The unfinished film contained many shots of some of my civic engagements as Mayor of Thatcham including a visit to a local hospital and the Civic Church service. I have replaced the camera but I cannot replace the film. It is of great value to me but no use to anyone else."

Anyone who can help is asked to get in touch with Mrs Gildersleeves at Thatcham Town Council offices on 01635 863592.
