Barry Short is competing against thousands of singers to become the next Robbie Williams.
The 24-year-old, of Ray Road, Bicester is hoping to be picked by the nation to be the next big pop star.
He is among 20,000 people taking part in the new television series Pop Idol. The show is based on the Popstars series, but this time the public will choose the winner.
Barry Short at the gymMr Short entered the competition in June and has sailed through round one. The next obstacle in his bid for fame is an audition on Tuesday, August 21, in London.
Mr Short, who has been rehearsing as he works out at his local gym, said: "Everybody I get in front of, I just start singing. I've also been working like a Trojan at the gym to get fit ."
He will find out the same day if he has made it to round three and whether he will be on television.
