The Thames at Sandford is being very kind to Gerald Perks this season - he won his third Littlemore AC match this week at the venue.
Two tench and a bream plus a few bits gave him a winning weight of 12lb 12oz - he must have taken my advice all those years ago when we used to have a pint in the Reform Club!
Fishing hemp and tares on the hook, Terry Winstone was second with 10lb 2oz, while Brian Hutchins was third with 6lb 2oz .
Eighty-three bleak gave Sian Rudman victory in Littlemore's junior match at Sandford Lock.
Using the whip and maggot to great effect, Sian weighed in 1lb 7oz 12drms.
Second spot went to Nathan Merry with 1lb 2oz 4drms of bleak, and third was Liam Percell with 15oz 8drms. All those who took part went home with a prize thanks to Oxford Angling Centre, Fat Phil's and Drennan International.
Some 32 anglers fished Sutton Courtenay AC's Roach Cup, with 3lb 13oz enough to clinch the silverware for Phil Boyes.
The overall result of the match saw a win for Keith McConnell with 6lb 10oz of small chub. Second with 6lb 2oz was Dave Thomas, while Matt Ryman was third with 5lb 4oz.
Yarnton and District's second river match saw a welcome improvement in sport for the ten anglers who fished the Thames.
All the anglers caught small fish early on, before the sun became too strong, but Roy Cox and Greg Hatwell managed to keep the bites coming to build up good weights.
Cox won with 9.6.0, ahead of second man Greg Hatwell (7.3.0) and Martin Beckett (4.2.8).
This result strengthens Cox's lead in the aggregate points standings after four of 11 events.
