JT/Fox Oxford Cheetahs joint team boss Colin Meredith has reacted angrily after his high-riding team were slammed as cheats for the second time in a month.
The main bone of contention surrounds the continued absence of Czech Republic star Lukas Dryml from the Cheetahs line-up, which brought cries of cheating from first Wolverhampton and now Sky Sports Elite League title rivals Poole.
Gary Havelock wants an investigation into Cheetahs Meredith said: "It's pathetic. I find the Poole statements amazing when you consider that Poole brought in Marcus Zetterstrom for the injured Hans Andersen which put the team over the 45-point limit, but won the support of the BSPA who thought the move was in the best interests of speedway."
Only last month, Wolves team manager Pete Adams accused of Oxford of cheating over the fact that Oxford failed to track Dryml the day after he won the World Under 21 semi-final.
Now Poole skipper Gary Havelock has launched another tirade at the Oxford promotion.
Havelock, world champion in 1991, is upset that Oxford have been allowed to use a string of guests to replace Dryml, especially as the youngster won the Under 21 semi-final two weeks ago and will be competing in the final later this month.
Oxford have to go to Poole on Wednesday and Havelock, in an interview with the Sun, said: "I'd like the sport to investigate the situation. We won't have a close title run-in because of Oxford and that's really bad news.
"Some people will say it's sour grapes, but Lukas was riding on an inflated average when he got injured. Oxford are conning their way to the title by using guests, who are scoring more points than Lukas would.
"The team that wins the Elite League is not the best team, it's the luckiest with injuries. It's a joke."
Meredith added: "That's absolute rubbish, and this coming from a rider who pulled out of Poole's meeting on Wednesday because of injury, and rode in Sweden on Saturday.
"You don't achieve a nine-point home average easily. Lukas worked hard to get up to that figure and it's certainly not an inflated figure.
"We will go to Poole and show them on Wednesday. If they wanted to fire us up, they couldn't have done a better job.
"Lukas may even make his comeback against them. He had a spin round Oxford after Wednesday's meeting and is keen to get back.
