Volunteers at a community advice centre are raising their organisation's profile by re-launching it under a new name.
Wantage Grove and District Community Information Centre is an independent charity, run along similar lines to the national Citizen's Advice Bureau. In order to focus attention on the centre's primary role, it is changing its name to The Independent Advice Centre.
Deputy office manager Wendy Watson said: "Our new name is a reflection of the many varied services we offer free to our community."
To celebrate the change, the Market Place-based centre is holding a fun-day on Saturday, August 25, featuring live music and entertainment and a free prize draw, with a £100 jackpot.
Mrs Watson said: "We have received tremendous support from local businesses in the form of sponsorship and donations of prizes for the open day, for which we are very grateful."
