Walkers in the Chilterns are being asked to spearhead a wildlife survey as part of a major conservation project.
Leaflets detailing wildlife in and around the area's chalk streams have been published with a list of animals, plants and insects.
Anyone spotting the wildlife is asked to send in their leaflets to become part of a general survey of the area of outstanding natural beauty.
Top of the list are water voles, mink, white-clawed crayfish, brown trout, bullheads, water rails, reed buntings, green sandpipers and grass snakes.
Information is also needed on signal crayfish, kingfishers, grey wagtails, flag irises, fool's watercress, and banded agrion and brown hawker, both known as dragonflies.
The 844 sq kms of the Chilterns stretch from Goring through Watlington and Chinnor to the Dunstable Downs and on to Hitchin.
The chalk stream survey is headed by Sarah Bentley at the Chilterns AONB office in Summerleys Road, Princes Risborough.
