Benson's bus shelter was the loser in this encounter with a Honda Accord yesterday.
An elderly woman manoeuvring the automatic car outside shops in High Street when she allegedly lost control of the vehicle.
Benson beat officer Pc Jeff Gibson, who attended the scene, said the car had "shot across the road into the bus stop".
The scene of the crash at the bus shelter in BensonThe car was left wedged in the bus stop, supporting the brickwork, until local builders Roy Passey and Malcolm Jones erected some temporary scaffolding to support the shelter.
Mr Passey said the shelter would be boarded up to prevent children getting in.
The £3,500 bus shelter was built in 1995 and belongs to the parish council.
The accident happened at about 11.20am. An ambulance arrived, although no one was injured. The driver was said to be shaken.
