A man was found lying in a lay-by off the A34 in Oxfordshire with serious multiple injures after apparently being the victim of a hit-and-run.
The 25-year-old, who has not regained consciousness, was spotted by passing motorists. Police were called to the lay-by on the southbound A34 between South Hinksey interchange and Abingdon North exit slip road at Kennington at about midnight.
Full details of his injuries have not been released but he suffered a serious head injury and at least one broken leg. He is in intensive care at the John Radcliffe Hospital.
A police spokesman said that officers were trying to contact the man's relatives. It is thought that he is not from the Thames Valley area.
