UNITED'S new keeper Ian McCaldon travelled with the squad to Swansea last night, but fans may have to wait until just before kick-off today before discovering whether he will start, writes JON MURRAY.

The 26-year-old former Livingston keeper, who did well at Oxford during pre-season, is expected to start on the bench at The Vetch after signing yesterday.

However, U's boss Mark Wright is known to like the way McCaldon dominates his area, and it would not be a total surprise if he replaced Richard Knight, last season's player-of-the- year.

McCaldon told the Oxford United website: "At my height, 6ft 5in, I like to dominate the defence, and if there's a cross, then I'll try and get it.

"I like to organise the defence and boss them about as well, and that's one of my biggest strengths.

"I was offered a five-year contract at Livingston, and that was very flattering. But I'd been there for five years and was looking for a new challenge."

Joey Beauchamp is expected to return to the side. Paul Powell is rated doubtful because of a slight strain and he could be replaced by either Sam Ricketts or Smon King.

Swansea are without the suspended centre half Matthew Bound, and boss John Hollins looks set to stick to the side which won 3-1 at Macclesfield, with former U's striker Nick Cusack operating in midfield.
