THE old town in Prague will come alive tonight as the speedway Grand Prix series moves into its fourth stage with the Czech Grand Prix at the Marketa Stadium, writes JOHN GAISFORD.

Looking to make inroads on the leaders will be Oxford Cheetahs aces Leigh Adams, Todd Wiltshire and Brian Andersen.

But at this stage it looks increasingly likely that the ultimate winner will come from Tony Rickardsson, Tomasz Gollob or Jason Crump.

Wiltshire is 24 points behind Rickardsson and Adams 28, while Andersen is fighting to stay in the top ten for GP survival next year.

However, the Danish star is not giving up just yet.

He said: "I was disappointed with my performance in my home country in the last round, but I had no luck. I was leading a race that was stopped and finished last in the re-run. I hope things swing round this time for me."

"I won't be making any big changes, just sticking to what I know.

"I reckon the championship is still very open and my aim is for the top ten."

Wiltshire, who made the A-final on his GP debut last year, could be on his third different engine set-up this year if the GM engine comes through its test in Germany. "I don't know what I will be using yet," he said. "I have the Jawa and vision motors as well as the GM, so you could say I'm pretty well covered, but I haven't fixed my engine problems yet.

"I believe I am in a good position and under no press- ure at all. I'm not far off the top and well clear of the bottom, but it would be crazy to let it slip now.

"I have to cement my place in the top ten and another top-eight finish would get me into the semi-finals and I can go for broke."

Adams, who reached his first podium position when third in Vojens last month, has never been nearer than eighth in his four rounds at the Marketa Stadium.

"It would be nice to get to the A-final again and be in the points," he said

Poole's Gregorz Walasek has been called up after the withdrawal of Jimmy Nilsen

, who is still suffering from concussion after the Danish GP, while Ipswich skipper Chris Louis is expected to returnafter recovering from head and shoulder injuries.

Standings (top ten): Rickardsson 66 pts, Gollob 59, Crump 45, Wiltshire 42, Adams 38, Klingberg 35, Sullivan 33, Pedersen 32, Gustafsson 25, P Karlsson 23, Andersen (16).
