Thame went down in Saturday's tight Ryman Division 1 encounter between two of last season's high-fliers.
The home side were ahead on three minutes when a Mark Jones corner was headed home at the near post by Wayne Cort.
It took the visitors 30 minutes before they tested new home goalkeeper Alan Foster, but Jason Geraghty's free kick was easily saved.
Cort could have doubled the lead on 35 minutes when he was put clear of the Ford defence only to be denied by Jimmy Chapman in the visitors goal.
Chapman himself had a lucky escape on the stroke of half-time when he appeared to carry the ball out of the area when intercepting a through ball. But to the amazement of the crowd, the assistant referee did not flag. Ford's equaliser came on 58 minutes when from a corner, Billy Read ghosted in at the far post to fire home.
Seven minutes later, Ford took the lead through Kevin Hoody, who fired an unstoppable drive into the top corner.
In the closing stages, the home side laid seige to the visitors goal as Martin Brown, Justin Merritt and Rob Smith all had chances, but it was not to be.
