A village post office has been saved from closure - in the nick of time.

Radley Post Office was under threat because the owners are retiring and no offers had been received.

Now a man from Oxford has offered to buy the business and will take over by mid-September, providing he gets Post Office approval.

For the last 17 years Ann Farr, 60, and her partner Paul Taylor, 58, have run the thriving business. Five years ago they won runner-up in a regional best post office competition.

Mr Taylor said: "It would have been a serious blow to the village if the business closed."

Radley parish councillor Eric Blanks said: "It performs a most valuable service for us all. This is certainly good news for the village. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the new owners will win Post Office approval.
