Burglars used a wheelbarrow to cart off disco equipment worth £2,000 from a house in Wallingford - and then ditched their haul.
The record deck, lights, smoke machine and speakers were stolen from St John's Road and apparently wheeled to a secluded area by Paddocks Pre-school, in Paddock Road.
It was all found, still in the wheelbarrow, by playgroup staff.
Police say it is an unusual case in that the stolen property, which belonged to two 18-year-olds, was recovered before the owners had reported it missing.
Wpc Pip Walker, of Wallingford police, said: "It was kept in a garage at the home of one of the lads, in St John's Road. They only realised it was missing when they came to get it for an event."
Police have appealed for any witnesses to contact them on 01235 776000. Wpc Walker said the disco could have been abandoned because the offenders were disturbed.
