Silverware worth thousands of pounds was stolen in a raid on Hinton Manor in the village of Hinton Waldrist near Faringdon.
Thieves got into the house by breaking a rear window and stole a large quantity of silverware. It is thought they gained access to the house by driving a vehicle across fields from the main road.
The occupants were away from the isolated house at the time and the break-in was discovered when staff arrived.
