New signing John Mitchell grabbed a brace as Oxford City opened their account in Ryman League Division 1 with a convincing 3-0 victory at Court Place Farm last night.
An experienced Slough outfit started well and Haynes sent a good chance wide before Deaner shot over when it looked easier to score.
Mitchell headed over for City from an excellent cross from Craig Farley and then beat keeper Andrews to a through ball, but his lob was cleared from in front of goal.
But City's striker made no mistake in the 40th minute when his first-time shot sped past Andrews after good work by Jemaine Ferreira.
Straight from the restart, Mitchell shot just wide after a good cross from Shaun Wimble, but City increased their lead when Farley's deep cross was volleyed home by Wimble.
Brilliant play by Mark Druce set up Mitchell who finished sweetly for City's third in the 70th minute.
City keeper Stuart Nelson saw little action until the last five minutes when he made outstanding saves from Barrowcliffe and Kemp.
Oxford City: Nelson, Farley, Dark, Ferreira (McMahon 83), Thorp, Organ, Lewis, Whitehead, Druce, Mitchell (Wise 85), Wimble.
