Visitors to Didcot's art exhibition will be invited to name their favourite piece of work.

The People's Choice award is a new feature at the annual show which takes place at the Civic Hall over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Since the first exhibition six years ago, the town council has built up a community collection of works chosen by the town mayor - and the Mayor's Choice plaque is presented to the winning artist.

Jennie Kuca, the co-ordinator of Didcot Arts Society, or D'Arts, who is organising the civic exhibition, said: "To encourage more interest, visitors to the exhibition will be able to nominate their top five exhibits from pictures and sculpture on show.

"Like the Mayor's Choice, the People's Choice will also be purchased for the community collection."

At the exhibition which takes place between Friday, August 24, and Bank Holiday Monday, there will be more than 100 exhibits, including sculpture and three-dimensional works.

Linda Benton of East Hagbourne, Nandi Ablett of Long Wittenham and Adrian Smart of Didcot are among the professional artists whose work will be on sale alongside that of amateur artists.
