An electric-powered boat has set a new endurance record on the Thames.

Pike, a restored 1901 river launch, travelled 137 miles non-stop without having to recharge its batteries.

The distance was covered in 30 continuous trips between Goring Thames Sailing Club and Wallingford. It took 30 hours from noon on Monday until 6pm on Tuesday.

Emrhys Barrell, the managing director of the Thames Electric Launch Company which fitted the boat's batteries, said: "It's great to have achieved this."
