Alvin Head, Chinnor's village bobby for the past 14 years, is leaving the force.
He officially leaves next week but Friday (August 24) was his last in uniform.
Alvin HeadBefore joining the police, Pc Head, 51, who lives in the village, was a musician in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers military band.
Born in Wales, Alvin joined the Army straight from school and then joined the police in 1980. He was based in Thame and Chinnor.
He said: "I've enjoyed the life and made many friends here and in the village. It has been a good life and a varied one."
He will stay in Chinnor with his wife, Mair, who is matron at Hempton Field Nursing Home.
