More jobs are being lost in Bicester due to the recession in manufacturing.

Redundancies are in the pipeline at Lear Corporation's car components plant and more jobs have gone at Huber and Suhner, makers of electronics for the communications industry.

Up to 25 workers are expected to lose their jobs from the Lear factory on the corner of Launton Road and Bessemer Close, Bicester.

Andrea Puchalsky, spokesman for Lear's international head- quarters in Southfields, Michigan, USA, said: "At this time we are in the process of identifying the people whose jobs will go."

Lear employs about 150 shop floor workers. The cuts are being made because of a downturn of orders from the car industry.

Huber and Suhner is making more employees redundant only three months after almost 100 people lost their jobs at the plant in Telford Road, Bicester.

Managing director Paul Harris declined to put a figure on the number of people losing their jobs this time round and dismissed rumours that the plant would close.

He explained that the mobile telecommunications industry was in a downturn phase. The major telecom companies who were customers of Huber and Suhner were downsizing their requirements.

Mr Harris added: "This unfortunately does mean that there will be a small number of redundancies. The company sees this as a short to medium term issue."
