The Sabines Gull is an unusual visitor to these shores, spending most of its life on the ocean.
It breeds and spends the summer in the Arctic regions of northern Canada and Siberia, bu makes an epic flight south each year to winter in South Africa and South America.
Amateur ornithologist Nic Hallam, from Cumnor, who spotted the bird, said it was only the second recorded sighting in Oxfordshire.
