Pupils across Oxfordshire are celebrating record GCSE success, with many schools announcing their best-ever results.

Milham Ford Girls' School in Harberton Mead, Headington, was proud to announce its best set of GCSE results. The overall pass rate was 96 per cent and 53 per cent of pupils gained five A* to C grades.

Oxford High School, in Glanville Road, reported the best GCSE performance in its history, with 91.53 per cent of pupils achieving A* and A grades.

The number of pupils at St Augustine of Canterbury RC/CE School gaining five A to C grades is up by two per cent compared to last year, with 91 per cent passing five GCSEs.

Magdalen College School, Oxford, is celebrating a record exam performance. Nearly three-quarters of the grades achieved were As or A*s.

Staff and pupils at Cheney School, in Cheney Lane, Headington, are celebrating their best GCSE performance to date.

Results included 347 grade As, a record 128 of which were A* passes.

The Cherwell School, in Marston Ferry Road, Oxford, reported that GCSE results were slightly down on last year. The school had a 93 per cent pass rate and 62 per cent of exam passes were at grades A to C. Sixteen students passed all their subjects with As or A*s.

The overall GCSE points score achieved by pupils at Peers Technology College, in Sandy Lane West, Littlemore, has risen.

More than 55 per cent of pupils at Gosford Hill School, in Oxford Road, Kidlington, were awarded A* to C grades.

The Marlborough CE School in Shipton Road, Woodstock,had a pass rate that was the second highest in its history, with 64 per cent of pupils gaining A* to C grades.

Four students from Henry Box School in Witney are celebrating after taking four of the top five places in their GCSE French exam.

Overall a total of 63 per cent of students passed five or more GCSEs at grades A* to C.

Students at Burford School also achieved their best ever GCSE results with 63.6 per cent passing five or more GCSEs at grades A* to C.

At Marlborough School, Woodstock, students gained a pass rate of 58 per cent of five or more GCSEs at grades A* to C.

A total of 61 per cent of students at Chipping Norton School passed five or more GCSEs with grades A* to C.

At Bartholomew School, Eynsham, 57 per cent of students passed at five or more GCSEs at grades A* to C.

At Witney's Wood Green School a total of 63 pre cent of students passed five or more GCSEs with grades A* to C.

At the Witney campus of Abingdon and Witney College, 63 per cent of students passed five or more GCSEs at grades A* to C.

Pupils at Wallingford School excelled in this year's GCSEs - achieving some of the school's best ever results. A record 56 per cent of students achieved five C grades or better.

At Didcot Girls' School, 25 pupils achieving eight or more GCSE A* or As. The whole of year 10 took GCSE French a year early with 73.4 per cent achieving A*-C grades which headteacher Jeannette Hebbert described as "fabulous".

Students at Didcot's other single-sex school - St Birinus Boys School - celebrated the school's best GCSE results.

Fifty per cent achieved five or more A*-C grades including 12 who gained a pass, merit or distinction in the new vocational engineering course.

In Wantage, teachers and parents came in for praise after students at King Alfred's Community and Sports College set a new college record.

A total of 55 per cent of the 307 candidates who sat GCSEs, obtained at least five passes at grades A* to C, compared to just 46 per cent last year.

At St Mary's independent girls boarding school in Wantage, students also celebrated record results. 92 per cent of the 32 Year 11 exam candidates achieved passes at grades A* to C. Students at Faringdon Community College are also celebrating, with 53 per cent of the 91 students who sat exams, gaining five or more passes at grades A* to C.

There was an overall, pass rate of 95 per-cent achieved by pupils at the Fitzharrys School in Abingdon, with 43 per-cent recording higher grades for A* to C.

Six boys at Abingdon School achieved more than ten A stars - described by headmaster Michael St John Parker as "spectacular individual achievements." Almost 26 per-cent of pupils achieved grade A stars, nearly 67 per-cent got grade A stars and As and the overall pass rate was 98.6 per-cent

Six girls at St Helen and St Katharine in Abingdon achieved one of the top five marks in the country for one or more subjects.

The overall results were: A* - 40.8 per cent; A* and A - 77.4 per cent - and 100 per cent with five or more subjects at grades A* to C.

Meanwhile, headteachers of both secondary schools in Bicester have praised students for their hard work.

Bicester Community College in Queens Avenue achieved its best-ever GCSE results. The number of students getting at least five A* to C grades has risen to 44 per cent compared with 41 per cent last year.

Cooper School, Churchill Road, Bicester, is also celebrating after 99 per cent achieved at least one grade A* to G and 94 per cent at least five grades A* to G.

Icknield Community College's results were up on last year. The number of pupils at the Watlington comprehensive gaining five C grades or better was up by five per cent, to 49 per cent.

Larkmead School in Abingdon achieved another encouraging set of results with an overall pass rate of just over 98 per-cent. More than 41 per-cent of students achieved A*- C grades in five subjects or more.

Seven students achieved eight or more A*and A grades. The number achieving five A to C grades is up by two per cent compared to last year, with 91 per cent passing five GCSEs.
