Police have made an appeal for witnesses after a man was found in a Banbury street with serious neck injuries.
The 40-year-old, who was found in Bath Road in early yesterday, was taken to The Horton Hospital.
He was later transferred to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, where he was described as critical but stable.
Det Insp Pete Coleman, of Banbury CID, said: "We are keeping an open mind at the moment, but we would like to speak to anybody who saw a man with blond hair wearing a green-and-white hooped top walking through People's Park after 11pm on Sunday or early on Monday morning."
Anyone with any information on the assault should call the police on 01295 754550 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
