Honda's new small car, the Jazz, makes its European debut next month, at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The Jazz makes its British sales debut early next year.
Having launched the HR-V three years ago, Honda is presenting an updated version for the 2002 model year. The new model continues the fun and funkiness of the original, but adds a mesh "Type-R" style grille, sports-look interior and improved characteristics for the automatic transmission option.
Finally Honda re-enters the diesel scene with the world debut of its British-built three- and five-door Civic hatchbacks. Both are powered by a newly-developed 1.7-litre diesel that is equipped with a common rail high-pressure fuel injection system.
Built by Isuzu, it is exclusively designed for the Civic and provides a maximum output of 100 horsepower along with near 60mpg fuel economy. The new diesels will be available in UK showrooms early next year.
With cumulative production heading towards 15 million, the Civic range forms the backbone of Honda's display. It will be shown in coupe, three door, and five door guises - with the soon-to-be-launched, motorsport-influenced Type-R heading the line-up.
