A gang of four sprayed a cafe owner with cooking sauce and threatened him with a claw hammer before stealing a cash till containing £100.
The robbery happened at Johnson's cafe in Garsington Road, Oxford, at 3.15am yesterday. The offenders then fled in a car in the direction of Blackbird Leys.
The man brandishing the hammer was of mixed race, about 6ft tall, of medium build, with short dark hair and wearing a blue T-shirt.
The second gang member was a 5ft 8in girl with freckles. She wore a jacket and had sunglasses on top of a peaked cap.
The third was a man who had very dark skin and short hair.
The fourth, also male, wore a baseball cap.
