The launch of Cherwell Council's waste paper recycling scheme has been boosted by the delivery of 8,000 blue collection boxes to homes in the area.
During the next few weeks more than 40,000 boxes will be distributed to participating households in north Oxfordshire.
The boxes will be used by residents to store waste paper, and emptied every fortnight in a doorstep collection service.
The recycling scheme is being introduced in two phases and most residents who received a leaflet asking if they wanted to take part agreed to go green and help the environment.
The first phase will start in September, and the second getting underway in November.
Cllr David Markham, chairman of CDC's environmental committee, said: "The scheme will be a real improvement to our recycling facilities.
"I hope Cherwell residents take the opportunity to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill sites.
"A little effort separating materials for recycling can make a big difference to the amount of rubbish we throw away."
