Proposals for an Anglican school and a Catholic school to operate from a joint site could be resolved at a meeting today.
The role of religion in the reorganisation of Oxford schools will be on the agenda at a meeting of the School Organisation Committee at County Hall in Oxford.
A plan for a joint school on the site in Cricket Road, Cowley, could provide a solution to the problem of accommodating the religious needs of both denominations.
Both denominations failed to reach agreement over the future of joint Catholic-Church of England St Augustine's in Iffley Turn, which led each side to make bids to create separate schools.
Discussions are underway to provide a long-term solution to the problem that education officers feared could hold up the school reorganisation.
